LuLu Group expands further in Indonesia, Opens third Hypermarket

After the recent opening of hypermarkets in Abu Dhabi and Cairo, the UAE based retailer LuLu Group, is continuing their aggressive expansion plan in the far east as it opened third hypermarket in the ASEAN country of Indonesia.

The latest Hypermarket at Sentul city in Bogor province of capital Jakarta, which is also group's 191st globally was officially inaugurated by H.E. Ade Yasin, Regent of Bogor along with other dignitaries in the virtual presence of Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman of the Group and other top officials.

Speaking on the occasion from Abu Dhabi, Yusuff Ali MA, said "LuLu is committed to expand in Indonesia because Southeast Asia's largest economy contains a promising market with a massive 260 million population that has growing purchasing power".

"In Indonesia, the Group already employs 750 Indonesians and this number will rise to over 5,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in the coming three years", he said. The group is planning add 10-15 new hypermarkets to its network in Indonesia and a state of art logistic center, added Yusuffali.

In January 2020, it had signed an agreement with West Java Government of Indonesia to provide employment to the local work force in its retail outlets worldwide. The agreement was exchanged in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, during President Jokowi's official visit to the UAE.

It was in the year 2016 when the first LuLu Hypermarket was inaugurated by the Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia as a result of series of discussion that happened during his official visit to the UAE in 2015. Second hypermarket is located in Serpong (Tangerang, Banten).

In UAE alone, the Group will be opening new Hypermarkets in Khalifa City, Al Falah and Riyadh City in Abu Dhabi, Silicon Oasis and Dubai South Mall in Dubai and Muwaila, Saja and Umm Al Tarafa in Sharjah which are in the final stages of completion.

"We are also planning an exponential growth in our existing Ecommerce operation by adding more than 500 vehicles to our current fleet in the GCC countries. In UAE alone we will add 200 more vehicles along with a significant increase in our manpower to better reach and serve our valuable customers" said Yusuffali while talking about LuLu's e-commerce activities.

In the times of COVID-19 and lockdown, LuLu has played a very crucial role and ensured uninterrupted supply of food and non-food products while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety of both its customers and employees.

LuLu opens 189th Hypermarket in Al Dhafra region Abu Dhabi

LuLu Group launched its first full-fledged hypermarket at Ghayathi in Dhafrah region of Abu Dhabi, increasing its total store count to 189 globally.

Located inside the Ghayathi Mall, in a retail space of 56,000 square feet, the store was inaugurated by H.E. Rashed Suwaid Qarran Almansoori, Acting Executive Director of Area Services – Ghayathi City, in the presence of Mr. Ashraf Ali M.A. Executive Director of LuLu Group. In keeping with strict social distancing norms, many government officials and LuLu management led by Mr. Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group, participated in the inauguration ceremony, virtually.

Mr. Yusuff Ali M.A. shared: "The challenges of COVID-19 are there, but I have full faith and confidence in the visionary leadership of this great country. It is the duty of all business organisations to continue their expansion plans and growth activities. This will help the economy recover faster, in order for us to get back to our normal life sooner."

Yussuff Ali to provide 125,000 meals in support of the '10 Million Meals' campaign by donating Dh.1 million

Dubai, UAE, 24 April 2020 – The '10 million meals' campaign, the UAE's biggest food distribution drive, continues to receive continuous donations from businessmen, companies, institutions and individuals. The Indian businessman, Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman of LuLu International Group, donated Dh1 Million to provide 125,000 meals to communities affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the UAE.

In contribution to the campaign that was launched under the directiveness of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and led by his wife Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank, the amount donated by the businessman will provide 125,000 meals and food parcels to communities affected the most by the coronavirus and will ensure they are delivered to the targeted groups in their

locations throughout the country, in time for the holy month of Ramadan.

The Flow of Donations Continues

Since the launch of the campaign, contributions continue to flow from community members, businessmen, public and private sectors, humanitarian and social work agencies, and philanthropists in support of the largest food distribution drive organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, in cooperation with the Community Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19.

Humanitarian Initiative

In a statement, Yusuff Ali said the '10 million meals' campaign launched by Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's wife, is one of the distinguished humanitarian initiatives, as it coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, and aims to extend a helping hand to the needy families and the groups most affected by the pandemic.

Yusuff Ali noted that these small measures are the simplest gesture we can do to support the needy in such times. His eagerness to contribute to the humanitarian campaign is considered a social responsibility and he is calling on all those who are able to contribute so we can achieve this noble goal, stressing that the UAE has a great advantage over everyone who lives or works on its good land, and this is a time to support in light of the current challenges facing the lower income groups.

He added that these honorable initiatives launched by the wise leadership in the UAE and the UAE's people are remarkably contributing to the fact that we live in the capital of humanity and charitable work in the world, especially since the leadership provides everyone with a good example in calling for solidarity and community synergy to overcome the challenges that are facing the world.

The '10 million meals' campaign aims to provide nutritional support that supports the needy families, and the groups most affected by the current conditions, in conjunction with the month of giving.

LuLu opens new express store in Barsha South, Dubai

20th February, Dubai-LuLu, the largest hypermarket chain in the region, further strengthened its presence in the cosmopolitan city of Dubai with the grand opening of LuLu Express Fresh Market in Barsha South. The newly launched store, which has increased LuLu's global store count to 188, was inaugurated by H.E. Omar Hamad Abdulla BuShahab, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Economy, in the presence of Mr. Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group, government dignitaries, and LuLu officials.

Lulu Opens New Hypermarket At Festival Plaza, Jebel Ali, Dubai

UAE retailer LuLu Group launched its new hypermarket in Dubai South's new lifestyle destination, Festival Plaza Mall, which is close by a 15-minute drive from the state-of-the-art venue of this year's most awaited world event, EXPO 2020. The new store was inaugurated by H.E Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, in the presence of Mr. Yusuff Ali M.A, Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group and other dignitaries.

LuLu Group Opens 10th Hypermarket in Kuwait

In a bid to further strengthen its presence in the State of Kuwait, LuLu Group has opened yet another hypermarket in the country. The latest hypermarket which is also 10th in Kuwait was inaugurated by H.E. Abdul Kareem Taqi Abdul Kareem, General Manager of public Authority for Industries, Kuwait In the presence of the ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines and South Africa and a large number of diplomats in addition to many prominent Kuwaiti figures at Al Hashan Commercial Complex in Fahaheel.

The new hypermarket, which is one of the largest hypermarkets in the country is also 184th of the group globally. The 150,000 square feet three level hypermarket was designed according to the best design concepts serving a large number of residents in Fahaheel and its surrounding areas. The focus has been on providing shoppers with a convenient and comfortable shopping experience. LuLu Group opens iconic Great Scotland Yard hotel in London

London—Twenty14 Holdings, the hospitality investment arm of LuLu Group, has completed investments of AED 1.43 billion in UK, with the inauguration of the Great Scotland Yard in London. The hotel will be open for business from December 9, 2019.

The Great Scotland Yard was officially inaugurated by Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State, Sir Edward Lister, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Chief Strategic Adviser, Mansoor Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to Britain, Mark Hoplamazian, Global President & CEO, Hyatt Hotels, in the presence of Yusuff Ali M.A, Chairman of LuLu Group, and Adeeb Ahmed, Managing Director of Twenty14 Holdings in London.

The historic property was acquired in 2015 for AED 550 million, and the makeover of the hotel involved a further AED 250 million. In addition to the Great Scotland Yard, Twenty14 Holdings had acquired the celebrated Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian in Scotland in 2018 for AED 440 million.

The Great Scotland Yard Hotel, which is being managed by Hyatt under their The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, is located in the St. James's district of Westminster.

Steeped in history, The Great Scotland Yard was once a dwelling for visiting Kings of Scotland during the Tudor period, while today the building is most famous as the former headquarters of the London Metropolitan Police force. In 1910, the building served as the British Army Recruitment Office and Royal Military Police headquarters.

The hotel also features a library, gymnasium, meeting/conference rooms, a 120-seater conference space/ballroom, and VIP function rooms.

LuLu opens new store in National Guard Campus Dammam

LuLu, further strengthened its presence in Dammam region with its new LuLu Express Fresh Market in the Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) campus, located at Al Haras Al Watani Street, near Kempinski Al Othman Hotel. The newly launched store was inaugurated by Eng. Aldugaim Fahad Saeed, Head of Housing National Guard in the presence of Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group, government officials and LuLu dignitaries.

The store opening is part of the agreement signed between LuLu and SANG forces last year, in which shopping centres and supermarkets are expected to be launched.

Second LuLu Express Fresh Market opens in Farwaniya, Kuwait

LuLu Hypermarket opened the second LuLu Express Fresh Market, a concept store at Radhiy Al Owayed Complex, Farwaniya on 6 November.

Located near Farwaniya Roundabout, opposite to Police Station, Farwaniya, the second LuLu Express Fresh Market store in Kuwait was inaugurated by Ex-under Secretary Ministry of Education, Radhiy Motlaq Eid Al Owayed, in the presence of Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group International Yusuffali M.A., along with LuLu Executive Director Ashraf Ali M.A. , Kuwait Regional Director Mohmed Haris, and Kuwait Regional Manager Sreejith, government officials, dignitaries and a large gathering of shoppers and well-wishers.

LuLu Express Fresh Market is the second such store format to open in Kuwait and adds to LuLu's growing retail footprint by taking the number of branches in the country to nine and the total LuLu outlets across the world to 181.

LuLu opens 177th Hypermarket in Ajman

LuLu Group opened its 177th Hypermarket in the emirate of Ajman. HH Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department inaugurated the Hypermarket at Nazir Plaza in Ajman.

After the inauguration, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi toured the new Hypermarket along with LuLu Group Chairman Yusuff Ali MA who briefed him on the Hypermarket's different sections that contain the various goods provided for the public. Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid was also briefed about the market's specialised interior stores and its various sections, which included many agricultural products from the UAE that aim to encourage the local market and producers.

The new branch, which is also 3rd in the Emirate of Ajman and 177th world wide was designed according to the best design concepts, serving a large number of residents and is located in Industrial Area 3. The 100,000 sq. feet two level hypermarket has been designed to meet the everyday needs of the residents in and around Ajman with added focus on their comfort and convenience.

LuLu Launches Hafilat Bus Card in Abu Dhabi Stores

LuLu announced the availability of "Hafilat" smart bus cards across LuLu stores in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi including Al Ain and Al Dhafra, which was held in a special function for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, as conducted Mohammed Hamad Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Public Transport Sector Integrated Transport Centre, Government of Abu Dhabi, and Abubaker T.P, at ITC Headquarters, Abu Dhabi.

Speaking on the occasion, Abubaker T.P said: "We are honoured to be in partnership with ITC for this initiative of offering card features with varied choices for the benefit of all residents, especially the special features for senior citizens, students, tourists, and those who have special needs, and the incentives for frequent travellers. We are equally proactive in making these easy-to-use, flexible and smart cards available at all times."

LuLu opens new Hypermarket at Rashidiyah in Dubai

LuLu Group has opened its latest hypermarket at Rashidiyah in Dubai. The latest hypermarket which is 170th of the group and 14th in Dubai was inaugurated by Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General, Dubai Economic Department in the presence of Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman and MD of LuLu Group and other senior officials.

Located near Rashidiyah metro station, the 100,000 sq. feet two level hypermarket has been designed to meet the everyday needs of the residents in Rashidiya and its neighboring areas, with added focus on their comfort and convenience. Sharjah Crown Prince inaugurates Lulu Hypermarket in Al Rayyan Mall

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council inaugurated latest branch of Lulu Hypermarket at Al Rayyan Mall in Al Nahda in the emirate of Sharjah. Upon arrival, His Highness the Crown Prince was received by Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman & Managing Director of Lulu Group along with Saifee Rupawala, CEO, Ashraf Ali MA, Executive Director and other senior officials.

LuLu launches new concept store in Kuwait

LuLu opened LuLu Express Fresh Market, a new concept store at Al -Sharqia Commercial Complex in Khaitan on 17 March.

LuLu relocates Al Burj Hypermarket to Wadi Al Lawami

Muscat : LuLu Hypermarket has opened its new store at Wadi Al Lawami, Al Khoudh. The new store was inaugurated on Jan 2, 2019, under the auspices of HE Hamad Bin Khamis Al Amri, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Manpower. LuLu opens 157th Hypermarket in Sharjah

LuLu opens new Hypermarket in Sur, Oman

Lulu Hypermarket Oman inaugurated its latest branch in the port city of Sur on November 29th, 2018. The new store was officially inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mustahil Bin Salim Shammas, Governor of South Al-Sharqiyah Region, Sultanate of Oman in the presence of several high-ranking officials from various government departments and representatives from local business communities. LuLu opens 150th Hypermarket in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

LuLu Group has crossed a major milestone as the leading retailer in the region by opening 150th Hypermarket in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Hypermarket which is LuLu’s biggest was officially inaugurated by Engineer Ibrahim Al Omer, Governor, HE Ibrahim Al Suwail Dy. Governor of Saudi General Investment Authority(SAGIA) along with Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, LuLu Group chairman Yusuff Ali M.A., Shehim Mohammed, LuLu Saudi Director and other dignitaries & royal family members.

LuLu Group has officially launched one of the largest project of its kind in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Through a Public Private Partnership PPP route the group would set up an integrated project, comprising 7000 capacity a world-class convention center, shopping mall and a luxury hotel on the beach road in the Harbour Park area of Visakhapatnam aimed to making it a global destination for “Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions MICE tourism.

The foundation stone for the project was laid by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu during the inaugural session of CII Partnership Summit in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu, Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathy Raju, Abdulla Ahmed Saleh, Under Secretary for Foreign Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economy of UAE, Yusuffali M.A. Chairman of LuLu Group, state ministers, diplomats and delegates from across the world.

Lulu on expansion track in sync with Vision 2030, Opens new Lulu store in Dammam

Dammam: UAE’s LuLu Group which have 10 Hypermarkets and 8 Aramco commissionaires in the kingdom has further expanded its presence in Saudi Arabia by opening its 2nd LuLu store in the Kingdom, was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Wajih Malibari, Administrator Area Home Ownership Development Division, Saudi Aramco operations. on Thursday. The occasion was also graced by several high-ranking officials from various government departments, representatives from local business community and prominent citizens.

“We are moving in line with Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s robust economy and the Government’s investor-friendly policies have encouraged and provided us a favorable environment to continue to establish ourselves and to contribute to the economic growth of the Kingdom. Deputy Ruler of Sharjah opens new LuLu Hypermarket in Al Hazna

Lulu Group, the region’s top retailer has further expanded its presence in the northern emirates by opening biggest ever Hypermarket in Sharjah. The new store which is 140th store of the group was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah & Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council at Al Hazna in the presence of number of dignitaries and businessmen.

Lulu opens second Hypermarket in Indonesia Reaffirms its commitment of US$500 million investment plans

Jakarta: The Middle Eastern retail major, LULU Group opened its 2nd hypermarket at BSD City, Tangerang, Indonesia today. Located at the QBig, the new Lulu hypermarket was inaugurated by Himawan Hariyoga, Chairman of Investment Board of Indonesia, Dr. Sutisno Rawita, Deputy Governor of Banten Province, Walid Darwish Al Raeesi of UAE Embassy in Jakarta, Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman of Lulu Group and other top govt. officials.

Lulu Group to donate AED10 million to support Emirates Red Crescent programmes over 10 years

Abu Dhabi: The Lulu Group International has announced an annual donation of AED1 million, to support the Emirates Red Crescent or ERC, humanitarian and development programmes for 10 years, as part of its initiatives in the Year of Giving.

This announcement was made during the visit of Yusuff Ali, Chairman of Lulu Group International, to the headquarters of the ERC, where Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC, and several officials welcomed him. Al Falahi received a cheque for AED1 million from Yusuff Ali, representing the group’s donation for the current year in the presence of senior officials of ERC and Lulu group.

Yusuff Ali stressed that the Lulu Group International is always committed to its social responsibilities and contributes by co-operating with its humanitarian partners, with the ERC as its main partner. Lulu expands in Saudi with new Mall & Hypermarket

The Middle East retail giant Lulu Group expanded further in KSA with the opening of a new shopping mall and hypermarket in Hufuf, Al Ahsa Governorate. Lulu Group has opened its latest hypermarket in Hail, KSA

Lulu Group has opened its latest hypermarket in the city of Hail, in the north-western province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

The Hypermarket was officially inaugurated by Dr. Saud Hamood Al Bugami, Under Secretary of Hail province in the presence of several high-ranking officials from various government departments and representatives from local business communities. Indian Food Festival ‘Treasures of India’ started at Lulu Hypermarkets all over UAE.

A one of its kind Indian Food Festival called ‘Treasures of India’ was inaugurated at LuLu Hypermarket, Al Qusais on 18 January, 2017. The festival was inaugurated by His Excellency, Mr. Muraleedhara, the Deputy Consul General of India, Dubai in the presence of Mr. Salim M.A, the director for LuLu Group International along with other dignitaries amidst a large gathering consisting of members of the Indian community and media persons.
The Deputy Consul General expressed his pleasure at inaugurating an event which exhibited some of the best products of India. Mr. Salim MA, the Director for LuLu Group said in his speech, “this festival is part of LuLu Group’s initiative to continuously bring the best products of the world to our customers. LuLu Hypermarkets are lifestyle shopping destinations offering ultra modern shopping ambience that that integrates every conceivable need of consumers under one roof. LuLu Group Launches Operations in USA

Lyndhurst, New Jersey: Lulu Group International, the Abu Dhabi headquartered retail and hospitality group further expanded their operations by inaugurating their food processing and logistics bases in USA. Y International, a wholly owned subsidiary of the group launched its operation in Lyndhurst, New Jersey this morning.

The world –class export center will purchase, process, re-label and export food, non-food, chilled and frozen products made in the U.S. In the first phase there are 75 employees which is expected to eventually grow to 200 to 250 employees within I year.

The facility was formally inaugurated jointly by Mayor Robert B. Giangeruso, Mayor Michael J. McPartland and VINAI THUMMALAPALLY, the Executive Director of SELECT USA in the presence of Yusuffali MA- Chairman & Managing Director, Saifee Rupawala, CEO, Ashraf Ali MA – Executive Director and Mohd. Althaf – Director of LULU Group. Attendees at the ribbon cutting, including local and foreign officials as well as members of the Indian-American business community from around the country, were thrilled by the impact the company can have throughout the state.

In his remarks Yusuffali MA thanked the officials of SELECT USA, CHOOSE NEW JERSEY and State & county officials for their great support in helping LULU launch their maiden venture in USA.

The US$ 6.6 billion turnover Lulu Group, operates hypermarkets, supermarkets and shopping malls, in addition to wholesale distribution, food processing and hospitality with operations in 37 countries, including the GCC, India and Far East. Brown said New Jersey is a perfect fit "Our state is so diverse we have populations from so many different countries,” she said. “We felt they would feel both welcome and at home. The business they will be conducting out of this site is meeting American companies to buy goods and products to then export to their own consumer base,” she said. “We have literally thousands of companies in food in New Jersey."

New Jersey, Brown said, is also home to companies in the apparel and consumer goods industries, which could serve the needs of the company’s Hypermarkets.

“Our group has been importing U.S. products for a long time to cater to more than 700,000 shoppers who come to our 131 hypermarkets daily," Yusufali added highlighting the longstanding relationships between Lulu and farmers and manufacturers in the country, with a special emphasis on California. “There has been growing demand for U.S. products throughout our retail chain stores, across the GCC, India and Far East” he concluded.

As per the latest report by Deloitte International, LULU is ranked among the Top 10 fastest-growing retailers in the world.

An official from the Kingdom of Bahrain embassy in Washington D.C., Mohamed Bahzad, said Ali's company, aside from being successful, also is known for its corporate social responsibility. Bahzad said that a strong relationship with the U.S. is a core strategy for Bahrain, where Lulu is opening its 10th market, and anticipates a market will open soon in the U.S.

Winners of LuLu ‘Save Water Challenge Announced

Going in sync with UAE’s vision towards a sustainable environment, LuLu Group International had combined forces with the ADDC to bring forth awareness towards conserving water through the #LuLuSaveWaterChallenge in March, 2016.
The campaign aimed at creating awareness and guiding the residents of Abu Dhabi in conserving water resources and rewarding them for the same. The initiative was conducted as part of LuLu’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility campaigns. The top 53 winners of the challenge were awarded cash prizes. The first prize winner was awarded a cash prize of AED 50,000.00 while the runners up were awarded cash prizes of AED 25,000.00 each and other 50 consolation prizes were awarded cash prizes of AED 5,000.00 each. The campaign was held until June 2016 with more than thousand residents taking part in it. ADDC also conducted weekly seminars in various LuLu outlets for demonstrating on methods to save water and electricity. Moreover, Sunrise School also contributed to the campaign by encouraging students of the school to participate in arts and creative competitions throughout the period.
The campaign was also successful in the social media and throughout the period of the campaign, people shared selfies and pictures of methods to conserve water resources as well. ADDC also played a major role in providing data of water consumption and decision making as well.

LuLu Hypermarket opens its 130th outlet in Mabelah North

Lulu Hypermarket opened its 130th Branch in Mabelah North yesterday. The new branch was officially inaugurated by H.E. Eng. Salim Bin Mohammed Al Naimi – Undersecretary for Transport, Ministry of Transport & Communications in the presence of several high-ranking officials from various government departments and representatives from local business communities. LuLu Group has opened its second Hypermarket in Cairo, Egypt

LuLu Group has opened its second hypermarket in Egypt thereby further setting its foot in the retail sector of the North African country.

The latest store which is also group's 190th store is located in the District Mall in Sheraton Heliopolis in the capital city of Cairo was officially inaugurated by Egyptian Minister of Supply & Internal Trade Dr. Ali Moselhi along with Deputy Minister Dr. Ibrahim Ashmawy and Rashed Abdullah Alzoy, First Secretary of the UAE Embassy, Cairo in the virtual presence of Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman of LuLu Group and other top officials.

Speaking on the occasion virtually, Yusuff Ali MA said that "LuLu group will stick to its expansion plans despite the challenges faced due to Covid pandemic. As per our plans we have earmarked US$500 million (EGP 8 billion) to set up 10 hypermarkets, four mini markets and a state of art logistics center in Egypt. Al Dhafra Region Gets New Shopping Destination

LuLu Group to operate retail spaces at Midfield Terminal

LuLu Group to inject $500M investments into Egypt

The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade and the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities of Egypt signed on an agreement with LuLu Group to establish new hypermarkets in differents parts of Cairo.

On behalf of Egyptian government, Dr. Ibrahim Ashmawy, Deputy Minister of Internal Trade and Chairman of Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) of Egypt, Enf Tarek El Sebaiy, Deputy Minister of Housing, signed the agreement with Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group International in the presence of Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, along with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali al-Meselhi, and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Assem al-Gazzar at the cabinet headquarters in Cairo.

Under these contracts, four projects will be built by the Urban Communities Authority within 12 months, with Lulu Group starting to manage and operate the projects in a period of three to six months from the date of completion of the construction in New Cairo City and El Obour, 6th October, said Internal Trade Minister Al Al Meselhi. This is as part of the government's plan to attract foreign investments, he added.

Apart from this, LuLu is also finalizing plans to set up another six Hypermarkets and four mini markets with other developers from the private sector. LuLu is also in final stages of discussion with the government to enter the wholesale market for vegetables and fruits and a logistics centre to support its retail activities in the country.

“When we started thinking about investing in Egypt, we had a plan to pump only $100 million, but today we finalised plans to invest $500 million to establish a number of hypermarkets and mini markets, providing 8,000 sustainable jobs for the Egyptians," Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group, said.

Currently, LuLu has one Hypermarket in the capital Cairo where it employs more than 500 Egyptians.

LuLu Group opens its second Hypermarket in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

LuLu Group has further consolidated its presence in the Far East by opening its second hypermarket in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

YB Datuk Seri Saifuddini Nasution Ismail, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs of Malaysia officially inaugurated the Hypermarket in the presence of Ambassadors of various countries, prominent local businessmen and other dignitaries.

The new Hypermarket which is also Lulu's 174th globally is strategically located at "1 Shamelin Mall" in the Cheras district of capital Kuala Lumpur. The sprawling 80,000 square feet hypermarket has been designed using the latest retail space concepts and most modern technology for ease of shopping and will serve the residents of Cheras and its nearby areas for their daily shopping needs.

After the inauguration, Trade Minister and dignitaries were led on a guided tour of the hypermarket by Yusuff Ali, Chairman of Lulu Group who briefed them about the various sections, unique features and amenities of the latest hypermarket.

Talking to media after the inauguration, YB Datuk Seri Saifuddini Nasution Ismail said "we are really proud of the efforts and investments of Lulu Group in Malaysia. They are not only investing in retail sector but also supporting our farming sector by exporting large quantities of agricultural produce to their operations around the world. Apart from this, lulu group is also providing huge employment opportunities to our local malaysian youth".

LuLu opens new hypermarket in Riyadh


LuLu launched its new hypermarket in Riyadh, further expanding its presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The hypermarket which is 17th in the country & 169th globally was officially inaugurated by H.E Eng. Muhammed Abdullah Alaki, Deputy Mayor For Investment & General Supervisor for Financial & Administrative Affairs Riyadh ,in the presence of Ibrahim Suwail, Deputy Governor of Saudi General Investment Authority (SAGIA), Ausaf Sayed, new Indian Ambassador to KSA, Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman of Lulu Group and other dignitaries.

LuLu opens 24th Hypermarket in Oman

LuLu has launched its newest Hypermarket in Al Amerat in Muscat at the newly developed 'Nujum Al Amerat Mall. The inaugural function was held under the auspices of H.E Sheikh Dr. Yahya Suleiman Abdullah Al-Nadabi, Wali of Al Amerat in the presence Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group, senior government officials and representatives from local business communities.

The hypermarket, which is the 24th in Oman & 167th globally is spread over an area of about 140,000 sq. feet and is designed to meet the everyday needs of the residents in Al Amerat and its neighboring areas, with added focus on their comfort and convenience. The interiors, well-planned retail floor layout, ample aisle space, extensively laid out counters and liberal parking space contribute to a relaxed world class shopping experience.

LuLu opens new Hypermarket in Al Naba'a, Sharjah

LuLu launched its newest store located at Al Naba’a, Rolla, Sharjah. The new hypermarket was inaugurated by H.E Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, in the presence of LuLu Group Chairman and Managing Director Yusuff Ali M.A, CEO Saifee Rupawala, Executive Director Ashraf Ali M.A, Director Salim M.A, government officials and dignitaries.

LULU MALL WITH HYPERMARKET INAUGURATED IN DAMMAM, KSA.

24 January 2019, Dammam: Leading retail chain, LuLu Group has launched its newest Hypermarket in Eastern city of Dammam with the inauguration of Lulu Mall.

The Hypermarket which is also 16th in the Kingdom and 161 st globally was officially inaugurated by H. E. Engineer Fahd Al-Jubair, Mayor of the Eastern Province in the presence of H.E. Abdul Rehman Bin Fahad Al Muqbel, Director General of Ministry of Labour, H.E. Khalid Ahamed Al Obaid, Director, Ministry of Labour, Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman of Lulu Group, Govt. officials and dignitaries. 

Strategically located on King Fahad road, the four-level shopping mall houses global brands, entertainment centres, food court etc. for the whole family with a total built up area of 580,000 sq. feet and is managed by Lulu Properties, the shopping mall division of Lulu Group.

A major highlight of the newly opened Lulu Mall will be the 6-screen multiplex cinema, the first in Eastern region slated to be operational by mid-2019.

"This is apart from the SR1.2 billion that we have already invested in the Kingdom till now" he added.

Recently, we have signed an agreement with the Saudi Arabian National Guard to open two shopping centers and seven supermarkets in Dammam and Al Ahsa which will further generate sizeable employment for local Saudi youth and serve the National Guard officials and their families in best possible manner. Works are in full swing to open three stores in National Guard campus before the end of 2019.

"Saudi economy is booming thanks to the major reform being implemented by the visionary leadership here, and I am sure these initiatives will surely make KSA one of the top global economic powerhouse" noted Yusuffali.

Apart from the retail expansion, Lulu group is also investing another 250 million Saudi riyals in setting up one million square feet state-of-the-art wholesale and logistics centre in King Abdulla Economic City (KAEC) to support the retail expansion, ensuring food security.

LuLu Group currently employs 3,050 Saudi nationals including 750 women in their various hypermarkets across the Kingdom. "Our goal is to give employment to more than 5,000 nationals by the end of 2020 out of which 1,700 will be women" added Yusuffali.

LuLu opens 15th Hypermarket in Saudi Arabia

LuLu Group has launched its newest Hypermarket in Al Kharj, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Hypermarket which is also 15th in the Kingdom and 158th globally was officially inaugurated by H. E. Musaed Abdullah Al Madhi, the Governor of Al Kharj in the presence of many dignitaries.

LuLu further expands in Bahrain

Yusuff Ali M.A. Receives Honorary Doctorate from Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan at Middlesex University

Dubai : The renowned Middlesex University conferred its honorary doctorate on leading businessman and philanthropist Yusuffali MA today. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan was the chief guest of the graduation event. While addressing the graduates and dignitaries, Sheikh Nahyan stressed the importance of education, which defines the character of an individual. Sheikh Nahyan further said that investing in education is investing in future that also shapes values of citizens. He said that Future of the world is depend on students and urged students to continuously learn which is a never ending process.

Shaikh Nayan also congratulated Yusuff Ali on receiving the honorary doctorate and said that "Yusuff Ali played an important role to strengthen India-UAE relationship and for setting benchmarks in entrepreneurial leadership. LULU OPENS 14th HYPERMARKET IN KSA, City of Flowers gets its first LULU HYPERMARKET

Tabuk, Saudi Arabia: The leading retail company, UAE-based Lulu Group has further expanded its retail network in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by opening its newest Hypermarket in North-Western region of Tabuk.

LuLu opens new Hypermarket in Ibri Bawadi Mall.

Lulu Group opened the doors of its newest hypermarket at Ibri Bawadi Mall on the 25th of July. The inauguration of the 21st outlet in Oman was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Khalaf Bin Salim Al-Ishaqi, Wali of Ibri, Al Dhahira Governorate, Wilayat of Ibri in the presence of senior government officials in the Sultanate.

Expansion Plans:

LuLu opens 8th hypermarket in Al Ain

As part of its expansion plan, Lulu Group has opened its latest hypermarket in the garden city of Al Ain. The Hypermarket which is 8th in Al Ain and 146th of the group was officially inaugurated by Abdulla Mohammed Saeed Al Subuousi in the presence of Nassar Al Mamri, General Manager, Al Ain Awqaf, Hamad Rashid Al Dhahiri, Col. Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre is billed as largest of its kind in India with over 10 lakh sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space including two customizable and column-free venues with a total capacity of around 10,000 people. Lulu on expansion track in sync with Vision 2030 Opens 11th Hypermarket in Saudi Arabia To invest SR 500 million in two years

Jeddah: Retail giant Lulu Group, has further expanded its presence in Saudi Arabia by opening its 11 th Hypermarket in the Kingdom. The new Hypermarket which is also the second outlet in Jeddah was officially inaugurated His Excellency Ibrahim Saleh Al Suwail, Deputy Governor of Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority SAGIA on Wednesday.

“We are moving in line with Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s robust economy and the Government’s investor-friendly policies have encouraged and provided us a favorable environment to continue to establish ourselves and to contribute to the economic growth of the Kingdom. As I mentioned earlier, our expansion plans are firm in the Kingdom and by 2020, the country will get another 20 Lulu Hypermarkets out of which six will be opened by the year 2018. This includes two Hypermarkets in Riyadh followed by one each in Tabuk and Dammam” said Yusuffali, Chairman of Lulu Group at the
inauguration.

Currently, our Group employs 2400 Saudi Nationals out of which 1100 are female staff and we consider it as our duty to nurture them as we have a very hardworking, dedicated and productive manpower in Saudi Nationals. As I promised earlier, our goal is to employ 5000 Saudi Nationals by the year 2020 and 10,000 by 2024.” said Yusuffali.

The 142 nd hypermarket of Lulu Group located on Al Haramain road in Jeddah and spread over an area of more than 250,000-square feet will serve as a major shopping destination for Saudis and expatriates in Al Marwah and its surrounding areas.

LuLu eyes bigger market share for its own labels

LuLu, the top retailer in the Middle East today launched their newly rebranded Private Label products during the ongoing SIAL ME 2018. LuLu products which was introduced 10 years back in select categories is today a top seller across 140 stores of LuLu group across the ME, India and the Far East.

The rebranded and enhanced range of LuLu products are sourced from best companies in more than 40 countries and tested and certified by some of the top global regulatory authorities.

Speaking to media after the launch Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman of LuLu Group said “we have been constantly innovating and upgrading the quality and offerings of our LuLu products and we are delighted to note the tremendous boost we have been receiving from the market. Initially our plan was to sell few products in select categories, but with each passing year we have been adding new categories and product range. Our primary goal has been “highest quality products at most affordable prices”. Consumers are always looking for better value for money and we are committed to providing better price by limiting our overheads and “middle men”.

World class shopping at Workers Residential city in Al Mafraq

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi based retailer major Lulu Group has further expanded its presence in the capital by opening a new shopping center in the Workers Residential City in Al Mafraq, off the city limits of Abu Dhabi.

The new shopping center, Emirates General Market was officially inaugurated by H.E. Saeed Eisa Mohamed Al Khyeli, Director General of ZonesCorp in the presence of Eng. Khadem Sawayah Al Muhairi, Executive Director- WRC Sector at ZonesCorp,, prominent businessman Otabiba bin Saeed Al Otaiba and other dignitaries. UAE's Lulu Group donates US$100,000 for flood relief in Sri Lanka

Abu Dhabi: In an effort to support flood relief and rescue operations in Sri Lanka, UAE based retail giant Lulu group has donated an amount of US$100,000 15 million LKR to the National Floods and Landslide Victims Operation in Sri Lanka . S.J. Mohideen, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the UAE received the cheque from Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman & Managing Director of Lulu in Abu Dhabi in the presence of senior officials of Lulu Group and Sri Lankan Embassy in a function held at its head office in Abu Dhabi.

According to Yusuf Ali MA, "UAE has always been and is at the forefront in helping needy people worldwide and we have always supported the game changing philanthropy initiatives launched by the visionary rulers of this great country. LuLu launches Ramadan initiatives

Earmarks Dhs. 40 million to subsidize various products.

Abu Dhabi: With an aim to help shoppers save on their shopping during the holy month of Ramadan, Lulu hypermarkets has announced special initiatives. As part of the initiative, subsidized Ramadan baskets comprising of various essential products were launched this morning by Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the Customer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi.

The baskets come in two variants, one containing 12 and other 20 essential products at a very nominal price of AED 85 and AED 120 respectively. These baskets contain cooking oil, rice, lentils, water, dates, oats, sugar, etc., and are discounted up to 32. Last year Lulu sold close to 500,000 such baskets and this bigger numbers are expected.

Elaborating about the Ramadan initiatives, Saifee Rupawala, CEO of Lulu Group said, “we have always taken special care to see that the shoppers are not unduly burdened during the holy month of Ramadan, when there is a tendency to hike the prices by the suppliers. We have earmarked a budget of Dhs. 40 million to be used for subsidizing various products in all categories. Last week we started by launching a 3-day promotion at Lulu Hypermarket in Khalidiyah Mall, where more than 50 discount were offered in all categories”.

“We will be heavily publicizing our special offers & promotions all throughout the holy month, mainly focusing on essential food products while also covering other categories such as garments, home linen, household, etc.” added Saifi Rupawala.

Lulu, which has its own sourcing and food processing facilities in UK, USA, India and the far East recently opened another one in Sri Lanka to secure uninterrupted supply of fresh produce for their 134 stores across various countries at most competitive prices, by eliminating “middle men”.

Speaking at the launch of RAMDAN BASKET, Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi said “LULU has always supported all our initiatives and have been a role model for CSR activities. These subsidized Ramadan Baskets will be available in all their hypermarkets in the UAE from today. I glad to note that LULU has increased their subsidy budget from Dhs. 25 million last year to Dhs. 40 million this year, which will benefit larger segment of society. Also, Lulu in cooperation with ministry of economy has locked the price of 140 products throughout the year 2017”.

DUBAI: Retail major Lulu Group joined the charity drive by partnering with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation to initiate a Ramadan project that aims to distribute shopping cards to deserving Emirati and expatriate families throughout the UAE.

At a press conference held at the Foundation’s head office in Dubai, a Memorandum of Understanding MoU in this regard was signed between Saleh Zaher Al Mazroai, General Manager, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian & Charity Est. and Yusuff Ali M.A, Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group in the presence of Birg./ Ali Mohammed Al Shamali , Director of General Department of Correctional Institutions, Mr. Salim MA, Director of Lulu Group and other top officials.

More than 8,000 deserving families in all the seven emirates will be given charity cards during the month of Ramadan. The cards will have denomination amount of Dhs 500 to be redeemed for food products throughout Ramadan at any Lulu group hypermarkets in the country. This is the 10th year of joint initiative being carried out by Lulu Group and Mohamed bin Rashid Al MaktoumCharity and Humanitarian Foundation together and a total amount of AED 28 million worth of Charity cards has so far been issued including the current year.

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al MaktoumCharity and Humanitarian Foundation engages in charity work within and outside the UAE during the Holy Month of Ramadan. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed lays foundation stone of Silicon Mall at Dubai Silicon Oasis

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman, Chief Executive of Emirates Airlines & Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority DSOA, the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis DSO, the integrated free zone technology park, today unveiled the commemorative plaque and laid the foundation stone for Silicon Mall, the new 2.3 million square feet shopping mall by the LuLu Group International LuLu Group, one of the top retailers in the Middle East, at the hi-tech park. The total investment on this new project is expected to be around Dhs. 1 billion.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Mohammed Alzarooni, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DSOA, Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group International as well as senior management from DSOA, and the Lulu Group.

LuLu Group stands tall among global retailers

Deloitte has announced its Annual Global Retailers Report and LuLu Group has been ranked as the top retailer in the Middle East and one among the top 50 fastest growing retailers in the world.

With retail revenue of $ 6.2 billion and operations in nine countries across the globe, it is indeed a proud moment for LuLu Group which bagged the 27th position in the list of fastest growing retailers and 153rd in the top 250 Global Retailers list.

Chairman & Managing Director for LuLu Group, Yusuffalli M.A in his address following the announcement of the Deloitte ranking said here, “Today, it is completely a consumer-driven market and the shopper needs only the very best. LuLu Mall sets new frontiers in Indonesia

UAE based LuLu Group which opened its first hypermarket and department store in Jakarta, Indonesia in January last year will be investing US$500 million on a major project in the country. The Project will include the setting up of ten new hypermarkets and department stores in the next three years across the country.

The first LuLu Hypermarket and Department Store was inaugrated by the Indonesian President, Joko"Jokowi"Wi dodo and it has become one of the most highly popular shopping destinations for residents in and around East Jakarta. Explaining the expansion plans of the company in Indonesia, Chairman & Managing Director of LuLu Group, Mr. Yusufali MA said:

"With an initial investment of $300 million in the first phase, we plan to open 10 hypermarkets and department stores by the end of 2018 and a central logistics and warehousing facility in Jakarta. These projects are likely to generate more than 500 job opportunities for Indonesians. We also plan to set up contract farming to ensure continuous supply of high quality products and to support the Indonesian agrarian sector."

During his visit to UAE in 2015, President Jokowi had exprsssed a keen desire to have a LuLu outlet in the country. He was impressed by the high standard of operation, quality and the wide range of products available at LuLu outlets. Lulu Group currently operates nearly 132 stores across the GCC, Egypt, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. LuLu Group opens new outlet in Qatar

LuLu Group has opened a new outlet in Qatar at Al Messila in Doha. The new hypermarket, located near Fariq bin Omran was inaugurated by the Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohammed al-Thani. Prominent entrepreneurs of Qatar, Sheikh Khaled bin Hassan al-Thani, Hussain Alfardan, Ali Hussain Alfardan, Deputy Group President & CEO–Mena of Qatar Insurance Company Salem Khalaf al-Mannai, Ashraf Abou Issa,
Nabeel Abou Issa, Ghanem al- Kubaisi, along with the CEO of Doha Bank, Group, R Seetharaman and the Indian Ambassador Periyaswamy Kumaran were present for the occasion. They were also joined by envoys and many senior diplomats serving in Qatar along with several high ranking officials from various government departments and other representatives from local business communities.

The Chariman for LuLu Group, Yussuffali MA, CEO Saifee Rupawala, Director Mohammed Althaf and other senior executives of LuLu Group were among the others present at the event along with a large number of residents. The hypermarket which is the 132nd such venture by the group is spread over an area of about 150,000 sq.ft. More Malls from LuLu Group at Dubai, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain

LuLu Group International has announced its biggest ever investment in the UAE with a 2 billion Dh plan to develop three malls in Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Dubai in the next two years. The mall development and management division of LuLu Group, Line Investments & Property aims to build and operate the three malls within the next three years.
The Mall of Umm Al Quwain is to be a single level strip mall of 20,000 square meters with a seven screen cinema due at the end of 2017 while the project in Sharjah, the Avenues Mall will cover 43,000 sq meters with premium restaurants and entertainment avenues is scheduled to be launched in 2019 while the Avenues Mall at Dubai’s Silicon Oasis is expected to extend over 82,500 sq. meters and has been designed as a premium retail and leisure destination which will be launched at the end of 2018. The Silicon Oasis Mall will compete with the new Cityland Mall which was announced last week and is located 5 kms away. Marcello Larizza, the general manager at Line Investments and Property explained that this would be the biggest investment by LuLu Group in the UAE but it was simultaneously building three malls in India and another three in Saudi Arabia.

Lulu Opens New Hypermarket In Bidaya

Lulu Hypermarket opened its new hypermarket in Bidaya. The new hypermarket was officially inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Hamoud Bin Nasser Bin Hamoud Al Hashmi – Wali of Suwaiq in the presence of several high-ranking officials from various government departments and representatives from local business communities. LuLu Hypermarket opens its 129th outlet in Rustaq, Oman

Rustaq : LuLu Group, region’s retail major has further strengthened its presence in the Sultanate of Oman by opening its latest hypermarket in the town of Rustaq in Al Batinah region.

The new Hypermarket which is also the 129th of the group was officially inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Hilal bin Said Al Hajri, Governor of South Batinah in the presence of several high-ranking officials from various government departments and representatives from local business communities.
